At Times, We All Need Some Extra Support!
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy is all about you.
Individual therapy is as a safe place to explore negative thoughts, feelings, harmful and/or self-destructive patterns.
Individual therapy may include talking about underlying issues from your past, such as abuse, neglect or unresolved emotional issues that accompany what is troubling you.
The proper experience in therapy can help you learn new perspectives and skills so that you can develop new patterns. Benefits of individual therapy include learning to manage difficulties in a kind, compassionate and loving way, rather than letting them consume your life, leaving you feeling alone and isolated. As a result of these changes, you can experience less stress, feel more productive and better connected to yourself and others in your life.
Because it is hard for any of us to talk about painful problems from our past the most important thing to look for in a therapist is someone you trust and feel safe being vulnerable with.
You should never feel judged, invalidated or criticized by your therapist. If you do, end therapy and find someone else. Not every therapist and client are a good fit, just as not every person is a good fit. If you don’t feel comfortable it’s better to move on than tough it out.
In order to find a professional who is a good fit, we highly recommend talking to a potential therapist on the phone for a 10-15 minute consultation. This gives you a chance to ask them some questions, get a feel for how they sound and how they respond to you (including returning initial phone calls or emails in a timely fashion).
